The island of Nusa Lembongan is a must-visit for everyone in search of that secret island hideaway or a taste of Bali as it was 20 years ago. Easily reached by boat from Sanur or Benoa, it makes an ideal weekend escape from Bali. Here’s what you’ll have to look forward to:
Finding Nemo: The reefs around Nusa Lembongan are ideal for diving and snorkeling. There are plenty of dive shops offering scuba diving instructions and spectacular night dives. For kids, snorkelling around Mushroom Bay is safe, fun and guarantees an amazing display of rainbow-colored marine life. State of the art bamboo structure Hai Bar & Grill has great coffee and food, and is a great place to relax after snorkeling. Parents can watch the kids when they play on the beach or head out to the pool!
Relax in Tropical Paradise: The white sand beaches on Nusa Lembongan are clean, quiet and have spectacular views. The kids can spend the whole day building sand castles and paddling in the waves while mom and dad kick back with a sunset cocktail or two. The 3 best beaches to head out to are: Dream Beach, Mushroom Bay, and Sandy Bay. Dream Beach is great for sand play, and Sandy Bay Beach Club is perfect for an ice cream, sunset dinner, or full chilled out family day.
Island Explorations: There are no cars on the island, and its small size makes it ideal for exploring on foot or scooter. Visit the gorgeous beaches, the mangrove forest, the rickety suspension bridge that connects Nusa Lembongan with Nusa Ceningan, and the dramatic waves crashing at Devil’s Tear.
Surf’s Up! Nusa Lembongan is surrounded by surf beaches and it’s easy to charter a local boat to take you to the best spots. Newbies can sign up for lessons with Monkey Surfing or Newbro surf schools and visit the Playgrounds break for a gentle introduction to the sport.
The perfect island getaway for a family-friendly break or romantic couples getaway!
Families, couples, surfers and divers looking for an escape close to Bali!
Want an adventure that's even more off-the-beaten-path? Take a boat to the larger but mostly undeveloped island of Nusa Penida. It's perfect for nature lovers and adventurous travelers!
Various boats leave from Sanur daily, starting from 8am. Purchase tickets in front of the Ananda Beach Hotel for Rocky Fast Cruises, Lembongan Paradise Cruise, and others. Daily boats also available from Benoa Harbor, Nusa Penida and the Gili Islands.
