Just an hour from Ubud, Kintamani is home to one of the few active volcanoes in the world, Mount Batur, which has erupted many times since the 1800s. While you won’t see hot lava oozing out of its peak, the thick layer of smoke misting the lush green hills and pristine Lake Batur is arguably one the most picturesque views in Bali.
Head for the hills! For a day full of outdoor fun, head for the hills and hit the hiking trails with the kids! For daring dads (and moms too), there’s also the challenging ‘sunrise hike’, which requires one to start at 4am to reach the mountain top and enjoy the first rays of the rising sun.
The outing would not be complete with out a visit to Kintamani Lake restaurant overlooking the entire expanse of the volcanic cauldron, including the lake. Take in the sights and chill out with the fam. Nice!
Note from editor – this area has been active lately and is not safe for hiking.
It’s an ideal way to introduce your kids to the bounties of nature while enjoying a great day out!
Nature enthusiasts, photographers, and avid hikers.
Beware of touts! Kintamani attracts a rather large number of hawkers looking to sell their wares at exorbitant prices. Be prepared to haggle as these artifacts are easily sourced in nearby villages.
