For a perfect mixture of Hong Kong’s nature and city life, try the short but quad-burning ascent to The Peak from the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. This concise but heart-pumping walk is great for moms and dads pressed on time or families looking to squeeze in a little exercise with some fun at the Peak!
Begin at the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road, which is off of Pok Fu Lam Road. One of the many perks of this hike is the convenient start location, which is an alighting point for many buses. Once here, a gentle incline will bring you towards the Pok Fu Lam Country Park entrance.
Sneak in a mini-history lesson for the kids as you delight in the views of the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir – the first reservoir ever built in Hong Kong, as well as the former Watchman’s Cottage, a declared monument, build in 1860.
Gradual inclines and shaded areas comprise most of this walk. As you follow the signs to the Peak, you’ll soon be enclosed by a canopy of trees, trickling streams, and sometimes even a family of boars, which will surely thrill little ones!
Within about 45 minutes, you’ll be at the Peak for an Instagram-worthy yet possibly sweaty photo shoot. Reward the kids with gelato or a play at the park. If it’s a grown-up only day, wrap up the afternoon with alfresco drinks at the Peak Lookout.
A short, heart-pumping trail that leads to the family-friendly area of the Peak.
Adults looking for a quick, short exercise trail or families looking for mini-adventures!
Once at the Peak, you can enjoy the many restaurants, trails and parks around the area.
