On this land where sedan chairs were used to conquer the hilly, steep, and sometimes downright mountainous terrain, pram-friendly streets can be difficult to find. But yes, they do exist in Hong Kong! In the first days out of the flat with your newborn, those blissful images of you and your stroller go out the window when you are stuck at the top of a long set of stairs with too many things in tow (we know). Here are a few options to help you manage Hong Kong with your pram. Roll on!
Discovery Bay is 100 percent stroller-friendly! With wide sidewalks everywhere, it is the mecca for strollers of all types, including side-by-side doubles and giant joggers. Stroll, dine and shop throughout DB North Plaza, or cruise along the beach, through the neighborhoods, to parks...anywhere! With green spaces everywhere and no private vehicles allowed, DB provides the perfect environment for a laid-back stroll or safe workout with a baby!

Hong Kong Park can be fun – the ponds, birds, and architecture make this park unique. If you're coming from Mid-Levels or Causeway Bay, you can walk over in about half an hour. Craving dim sum? The kid-friendly Lok Cha Teahouse is always a crowd pleaser! Or, take your little ones to one of the many hotels offering oh-so-yummy tea!

How do you get a stroller from the Mid-levels to Central without running into stairs? There is a way… From Robinson Road, you can head down to Caine road via Castle Road. The sidewalk is wide and comfortable for a stroller. Turn right on Caine Road and stay on the south side of the street, where there are no stairs. Walk down to the Elgin intersection. Cross the road and walk down Elgin (either side of Elgin will do) to Peel Street. Turn right on Peel and walk down Staunton, stay on the south side of Staunton until the escalator. Walk down the incline next to the escalator until Hollywood. Turn left on Hollywood until Lyndhurst Terrace. Cross the street to the north side of Lyndhurst Terrace to avoid stairs. Turn left when you hit the escalator and walk under the escalator on Cochrane Street to Queens Road Central. Note, we recommend avoiding this walk during lunchtime as Queens Road Central tends to get crowded at that time! If you need a break while in the Central area, head to the Landmark Building, where the change rooms are positively luxurious, and you can grab a coffee on the lower ground floor at Simply Life.
The waterfront Aldrich Bay Promenade is relaxing, car-free, and flat! This little-known walk is perfect with a stroller, especially for squirmy tots who can watch the boats in all shapes and sizes moving around the Typhoon Shelter waters. There's also a resting spot at Sai Wan Ho Playground. No need to pack snacks, when tummies get grumbly, grab a seat at one of the many waterfront restaurants and cafés on Tai Hong Street. Perfect!

Grab the strollers, scooters, or bikes, and enjoy a seaside walk with the fam! Start at Repulse Bay and walk towards Deep Water Bay. The trail is dog-friendly, so it's all go on this lovely promenade which never feels too busy. For a little extra fun, fold up the stroller and catch the boat across to the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at Middle Island. The waiting point is easy to spot and access, and the ship is free for everyone! Hop across to the little beach on the other side which is open to the public, even dogs! Sit at the rocky beach for a bit, let the kids skip rocks, and hop back on the boat. Head back to Repulse Bay, or keep walking towards Deep Water Bay and grab a taxi there. Or loop back to Repulse for a bit of a longer jaunt!
Seaview Promenade Walk, Website, Taxi to Repulse Bay. Note: We don't recommend starting this walk from the Deep Water Bay end, because the steps down to the promenade are very steep, and the walk to the beach parking lot is narrow and dangerous.
Take your car up to Bowen Road and park it, or grab a cab to drop you and your wee ones off. The trail is short and sweet, plus you just can’t beat the city views while walking along the shaded, lush path. The popular trail is a prized spot for runners - including moms that run with strollers in tow - and can be just the place to burn off that extra baby weight.
Bowen Road, an easy starting point is Mother's Choice on Bowen Road.
This is a hilly walk and can feel like a bit of a workout on those post-partum days. You can access the Botanical Gardens from Robinson Road, Caine Road, Albany Road, Upper Albert Road, Garden Road, or Macdonnell Road. There are two sides of the gardens that are connected by a tunnel. Note that the monkeys can be quite noisy in the morning. With plenty of trees and benches, this is a relaxing spot to wander in those first weeks of the postnatal period. There are paved paths for the pram, and you can walk around the different animal stations. To find a flat area, head to the fountain, where you will see the courtyard, which is also a great place to meet up with friends. There are kiosks in the park, but it is best to bring along your own snacks and water.

To enjoy Hong Kong's beautiful countryside, head over to Clearwater Bay Country Park where you will find a slew of wheel-friendly trails, a kite-flying pavilion, picnic sites, and loads of ridiculously pretty views. This park offers something for everyone including the family dog. At the end of Clearwater Bay Road, you will find Tai Hang Tun where you can snap up cooling drinks at the wee-sized kiosk (note: it closes at 6pm). For a mini hike, try the 30-minute Tree Walk (not suitable for prams) bustling with butterflies, dragonflies, and plenty of signs providing information on the various plants to spot along your adventure. Nature does nurture...so, go on now!
Clearwater Bay Country Park, Website. Take a taxi to the end of Clearwater Bay Road to enter the park. If you are driving, there is free parking available in front of the park. Click here for public transport options. Note, it gets jam-packed on public holidays, so plan on going early on these days.
This is an excellent option for hotter weather, as it is generally slightly cooler on the top of the hill. Take a taxi or the tram up to the Peak Galleria. Note, strollers must be folded on the tram. Follow signs to the Hong Kong Trail and Lugard Road (the road that circles the Peak). The walk around takes about an hour and is entirely flat, and it offers beautiful views of Hong Kong. There are lots of benches where you can stop for a feed or rest. At the end of the walk, go for a drink or a bite at the Peak Lookout. Don’t forget a blanket for your bub! It can get quite chilly when the sun goes down.
