Travel Back In Time At The Kowloon Walled City Exhibition At HKIA

Traveling back to Hong Kong soon? Starting today, if you’re arriving at HKIA, you will be transported back to the 1980s and be welcomed by a striking 6.5-meter-high double-story set, complete with a massive neon sign for “Kowloon Walled City”. This meticulously restored film set features key locations such as a barber shop, tea stall, and winding alleys, allowing visitors to relive thrilling moments from Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In while savoring elements of Hong Kong’s unique history and culture.

This exhibition will unfold in two phases:

• Phase One: Located at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at Arrival Halls A until November 20, 2024.
• Phase Two: Moving to the AIRSIDE shopping mall in Kowloon City in December and creating an immersive indoor experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to wander through various parts of the Walled City and step into iconic scenes from the film, enhancing their movie tourism experience in Hong Kong.

Highlights of the Exhibition

The exhibition comprises six must-visit zones that vividly recreate life in Kowloon Walled City during the 1980s:

• Zone 1: Barber Shop — Relive nostalgia with authentic décor featuring mosaic floor tiles and vintage barber tools.
• Zone 2: Tea Stall — A social hub showcasing Cantonese rotisserie food that reflects character camaraderie.
• Zone 3: Store/Plastic Flower Workshop — Explore a key interaction point for characters, filled with timeless snacks and toys.
• Zone 4: Well/Home Appliances Stores — Discover daily life through displays that recreate the streetscape of the Walled City.
• Zone 5: Back Alley — Navigate through winding alleys that bring exciting film scenes to life.
• Zone 6: Attic — Enter a hidden attic where pivotal story moments unfold, complete with authentic details like a mahjong table and beer crates.
