Rock climbing is not only fun, but it is also an excellent skill with an emphasis on strength, balance, and coordination. YMCA has the largest outdoor climbing wall in Hong Kong, at 18 meters high and 16 wide. It offers more than 300 square meters of climbing terrain, which provides over 15 climbing routes of varying degrees of difficulty. They also have a mini indoor climbing wall, and kids of all ages can come to climb. The ever-popular Verm City also offers rock climbing classes for kids ages 4+ on their excellent rock playground.

For children 8 to 11 years old with no experience in archery, they recommend the Children Certificate Class or private class. For children above 12 years old, their beginner class is ideal. Wish to join a Derby Team or simply rollerskate in along the promenade or Disney Park, why not learn at your own pace, one-on-one, or with a group of friends? Gear up! Hong Kong’s very own BMX Park is sure to get your little rider's adrenaline going. All young adventurers and adults are welcome for cruising - from first-timers to experienced little Evil Knievel’s! With over 39,000 square meters of trails, tracks, and tricks, this BMX Bike Park is sure to thrill you. They offer classes for kids and teens to up their skills - sign them up.
The HKCRA operates two rowing centers adjoining the Sha Tin Shing Mun River in Sha Tin. The HKCRA organizes different types of promotion and development programs and activities, including “Youth Development Programme,” “Para-rowing Programme,” “Indoor Rowing for Schools Programme” and “Coastal rowing activities. This one is great for teens who are keen on getting into this fun sport.

The Rink at Elements caters to kids (and other unsteady skaters) by offering cute model penguin guides that scoot across the ice and keep even the littlest nippers steady. The figure skating instructors are also fab too. City Plaza Ice Palace opens its doors for skating fun 365 days a year. Mega Ice in Kowloon Bay offers private and group figure skating and hockey lessons are available. Lohas Rink (Lohas Park) and Discovery Bay both have newer rinks and are offering classes for kids.
Ping over to the Hang Seng Table Tennis Academy for a bit of back and forth. It is ideal for children between 5 and 15 to hone their serves, back, and forehand strokes, and table tennis footwork. For one-on-one lessons, call Coach Cheung, who has been in many international competitions and now provides tailor-made lessons for kids and adults alike here in Hong Kong.
If your little skaters and extreme inline skaters are looking for a place to practice their tricks, head to one of these hangouts where they’ll be able to look cool and play it safe. For workshops and classes designed for little adrenaline junkies, check out All Hong Kong Skateboards Association (AHKSA) in Chai Wan, they also organize fun skateboarding camps. Drop, cruise, and go. Note, many of the instructors will come to the park that is closest to you - give them a shout!
