One of the leading schools in South East Asia, CDNIS is an IB World School fully authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate’s Diploma, Middle Years and Primary Years Programmes. CDNIS has always drawn on the strength of its Canadian and Chinese foundations to create a unique learning environment in Hong Kong.
Primary
From Pre Reception to Grade 6, children are taught following the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP). This course of study concentrates on an inquiry-based approach to learning and encourages students to adopt the attributes of the “Learner Profile”. Classes encompass the basics of Language Arts, Mathematics, Mandarin, Social Sciences, Science, Computer Literacy, Art, Music and Physical Education.
Secondary
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme serves as the cornerstone of the learning experience in the Upper School. In Grades 7 – 10, all students are enrolled in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world and become critical and reflective thinkers. All students in Grade 11 and 12 are enrolled in the full Diploma Programme (DP). The DP is designed as an academically challenging and balanced university preparatory programme.
ASA
The school offers four clubs in which the students can take part in. Amnesty International, Environmental Club, Interact, Upper School Student Council.
Admissions
The school practices a selective admissions process in which students are assessed prior to entry into the school. Admission decisions are based on a careful assessment of each applicant’s age-appropriate knowledge, skills and understandings as well as their social and emotional development.
Sport
Sports programmes are available for students in four different age categories (U20, U16, U14 and U12) for competitive sport. Activities include Football, Volleyball, Swimming, Cross Country, Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Touch Rugby, Track and Field, Badminton and Softball.
