Southside Kindergarten and Sylvan Learning

Southside Kindergarten works side-by-side with Sylvan Learning Centre to ensure that all little learners are given the best opportunity to thrive. Through careful observation and exposure to different skills, Southside and Sylvan can determine exactly what each child needs to extend their learning; whether it be social, language, or cognitive.

Being conveniently located a stone’s throw away from each other, the two linked companies have managed to create an educational oasis within The Repulse Bay Arcade that seamlessly caters to the individual learning needs of each child.

Southside Kindergarten:

At Southside, the low teacher-to-student ratio enables a more individualised approach to learning, ensuring the acquisition and retention of knowledge across the curriculum. The school follows the British National Curriculum in which the key areas of learning include social & emotional, language, numbers, physical and creative development. All Southside students attend the main morning kindergarten session, but it is the Extended Day session taking place in the afternoons that’s creating all the buzz in our Little Steps community.

The Extended Day programme presents a unique experience to build the necessary confidence and resilience that helps children thrive when it comes to learning in a more formal environment. Through regular attendance, a strong foundation for formalised learning is established, giving their little learners an edge when it comes to acceptance into primary schools. Furthermore, this unique afternoon session is also available to non-Southside students.

Sylvan Learning Center:

At Sylvan, the value of their service is apparent right off the bat. Every student has to complete a series of diagnostic assessments before they can start lessons. The assessments pinpoint strengths, weaknesses, and areas of continued growth and development. This allows Sylvan teachers to target specific areas of learning that need remediation or further enhancement.

Programs at Sylvan cover almost all areas of learning. From their three core Sylvan programs in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, to Study Skills, Test Preparation, Homework Support, Science, Mandarin, Robotics, Coding…and the list goes on! If your child can study it, Sylvan can teach it!
