In this edition, we say hello to David Butcher, Headmaster of the British School Jakarta.
1. Do you have a nickname? People can call me D.B.
2. Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in England and grew in Colchester.
3. Where do you live in the city and why do you love it there? We live in Pondok Indah area, in South Jakarta, Indonesia, and our apartment block is an oasis. It is also great for restaurants and shopping
4. What's in your lunchbox? My wife is a great cook so today it is meatballs in tomato sauce!
1. What or who inspired you to become a headmaster? To bring positive change and to lead schools in an inspirational way
2. Describe your school in 5 words or less? #morethanaschool
1. What's your favorite thing on your desk and why? The photo of my wedding day with my wife
2. What are your 3 favorite children's books? Danny, the Champion of the world, The Gruffalo and Charlie and the chocolate factory!
1. What is the best way for parents to be involved in their children’s education? To collaborate with school and to understand that there is no fixed way of learning in the 21st century.
2. Any tips for parents when applying for schools? I would always visit the school to get a real feel for their method of teaching and learning.
3. What's the best advice a teacher or headmistress ever gave you? Always make the decision on your time; not anyone else.
