Geocoaching was founded in the United States in 2000 and has grown to be the largest scavenger hunt globally! Here in Hong Kong, it is estimated to have over 1,000 participants and over 300 coaches! It combines hiking and outdoor adventure for items and treasures left by other geocachers. All you need to join in is a smartphone with a GPS signal and the geocaching app. With the app, you can see where the geocaches are located and then use the map to find the hidden treasures, which can be anything, so don't expect too much. Once the items are retrieved, record your name in the log provided by the app and then leave your own treasures behind. How fun!
