The western section of the East Coast Boardwalk in North Point has just opened (January 26, 2025) and it’s a game-changer! This 1.1-kilometer stretch is the first part of a bigger project that’ll eventually give us a continuous 13-kilometer harbourfront promenade from Shau Kei Wan all the way to Kennedy Town. How cool is that?
Picture this: a spacious boardwalk where kids can run wild, cruise on their bikes and zoom around on their scooters (of course adults can do that too!). And the best part? It’s covered! So even if the sky decides to open up, your outdoor plans won’t be rained out.
But that’s not all. This boardwalk is packed with neat features. It’s got Hong Kong’s first movable bascule and swing bridges in Victoria Harbour. There’s cascade seating for those perfect sunset views, a play area for the little ones, fitness equipment for the health nuts, and even a fishing platform for those who like to cast a line.
Getting there is a breeze with three easy access points near MTR stations. And guess what? It’s open 24/7, except for the swing bridge, which takes a little nighttime break from 11 pm to 6 am.
We love the big open spaces - this one is wave-themed to reflect the harbor surroundings.
Kids, runners, cyclists!
Accessibility is convenient, with three main entry points: Tong Shui Road (near North Point MTR Station), Provident Garden and the movable swing bridge, and the Watson Road entrance to the Eastern Coastal Promenade (near Fortress Hill MTR Station)
