Get ready for a whole new way to travel between Hong Kong and Mainland China! Starting June 15, 2024, China Railway will launch the EMU Sleeper Train, connecting Hong Kong West Kowloon Station (Honganxi) directly to Beijing (Beijingxi Station) and Shanghai (Shanghai Hongqiao Station). You can now embark on this comfy night journey every Friday to Monday, drifting off in one city and waking up ready to explore another! They’re transforming the regular train service into a high-speed overnight experience that slashes travel time to Beijing to just about 12.5 hours and to Shanghai to roughly 11 hours.
Imagine boarding in the evening, settling into your sleeper berth, and waking up refreshed and ready to dive into your exciting itinerary. This brand-new service turns your travel time into a restful part of the experience, offering a “sleep and arrive” concept that maximizes your adventure time.

Class of Travel
The sleeper trains feature sixteen cars, designed to accommodate about 600 passengers. Here’s what you can expect aboard:
When booking, you can select an upper or lower berth, and if you’re traveling with companions, the system will endeavor to place you in the same room and with adjacent beds, depending on ticket availability. Be aware that you might share the room with other passengers if traveling alone or if additional berths are needed.
