Head to South Jakarta and enjoy sweets, eats, shopping, and play in Kemang! Little Steps has explored this South Jakarta district favorite and has put together the ultimate must do, must see, and must enjoy activities for the whole family. Let’s go!
Playparq (pictured) is definitely the best playground for little ones in Kemang with its spacious and unlimited play features. For inspiring weekend workshops, visit Club Kembang at Sekolah Kembang where you can find a list of crafty, healthy, and edutainment activities every Saturday and Sunday. If your tots love Lego, you should head to Bricks 4 Kidz! Don’t forget to check out Escape Hunt for some family-bonding games, as well as The Reading Room that will perfectly suit your little bookworms’ needs.
It is not difficult to find dining spots across Kemang. For homey Italian grub, reserve a seat at Mama Rosy or Toscana. Indonesian food fans should book up at Akasya Express or Payon (pictured) for Javanese delights. For European and American style food, head to the oh-so-stylish Casa, garden-like Parc 19, or the hip Common People. Brunch babes should plan to visit the Parisian chic Sophie Authentique.
Babes in the city love Baby Bar (pictured) which is a one-stop shop for fresh homemade baby food. As for older kids, fresh creations from Animo Bread Culture will delight, or go to Authentique Bakery for French pastries. Souly Butter Kitchen would also serve you well with it’s A to Z dessert series, while Chocolate Monggo displays the well-known Yogyakarta’s cocoa gifts. Caffeine aficionados will fancy some cups by Anomali Coffee or Liberica. Want something more relaxed, grab a table at Clea Tea Bar & Lounge.
This fashionable district is of course famous for its catwalk shops and exclusively branded shops. All-time favorites include FJL Boutique and 707. Kiddos can get styled at HGL Babies & Kids, Mom's & I, and Nina Bobo. Heels addicts can stomp over to Linea or Shoe Bar. Favorite local brands include Biasa and the gracefully-handmade traditional cloths and textiles at BIN House.
Kemang is also renowned for its top interior and décor shops. Must visit local shops include Cayenne, Lio Gallery, and Le Souq. Gifts galore and Indonesian souvenirs can be found at Chic Mart and Hadiprana Signature. For artistic bits and bobs by young talents, shop at Dia.Lo.Gue (pictured). Aedi Living offers unique and pop décor items. Ak’.sa.ra has a wide selection of books and stationary. Don’t forget to visit East Kemang for a line of vintage furniture stores, and drop by Pikitra to check out those mini features for the tots’ rooms.
Hungry at midnight? There’s always something delicious to bite on at the 24h Dimsum Festival. For late drinks, grab some friends to chill out at Murphy’s Irish Pub (pictured) or Fez by Aphrodite. If you fancy some live dance show, Amigos and Shisha Café are always fun! For a jazzy evening, head to Red White Lounge.
Family dog looking for a bit of pamper time? Book up at Japan's no. 1 dog salon, Vodka & Latte (pictured). Feline lovers should drop by Cutie Cats for some play time with the house cats. Various pet shops and vet clinics are located all over Kemang. Drop by Animal Clinic managed by Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN) where you can shop merchandise for donation or consider a new pet by adoption.
Since Kemang is also a residential area, choices of beauty centers are easy to find! Kids love haircuts at D’Katz complete with toys and coloring books. Reserve a place at Relax Living and choose from their long menu including massages, sauna, bubble baths, reflexology, manicures, or hair. Yoga classes are also available at various studios including one of our favorites, Yogasana.
If you prefer a short-stay in this area with the whole family, Kemang Village Residences is a recommendation. Kemang Icon by Alila (pictured) and Grand Kemang Hotel are also great choices for premium facilities in a stylish atmosphere. For budget accommodations, Pop! Hotel and FaveHotel have an irresistible price offer and are kid-friendly.
