The oldest British School in Southeast Asia, Tanglin Trust has been celebrating its 100th birthday in 2025 with a host of exciting events.
On March 21, 2025, Tanglin commemorated its official birthday with a party for the whole school. The day-long festivities included live music, magicians, balloon modeling, stilt performers and class parties, with senior school students helping out with parties for the younger age groups.
Birthday cakes, cards and a commemorative book!
• It wouldn’t be a birthday party without a big birthday cake, and Tanglin’s CEO Craig Considine cut a huge cake to mark the occasion!
• The school came together to sing Happy Birthday – that’s 2,850 students in unison after a birthday message from Craig Considine went out on the tannoy system!
• For the Infant and Junior school students, there was a special competition to design Tanglin’s 100th Birthday card. Tanglin’s Centenary Manager and the Friends of Tanglin team picked six winners from 1,400 students, with the birthday card design made up ready for the Big Day!
• Each infant student received a party bag and birthday gift of a specially written children’s book called Tanglin Ted’s Centenary Adventure, written and illustrated by Tanglin’s Deputy Head of the Infant School. There’s a copy of the book at the Singapore National Library.
• To continue the celebrations, there was a Centenary Gala at the Fullerton Bay Hotel on March 22, 2025. Next month on. April 23, 2025, Tanglin will host a concert at the Esplanade, where renowned British composer Jonathan Dove, CBE will debut the world premiere of A Bridge Across The Sea, an original piece of contemporary music composed especially for the centenary!
Here’s to another 100 years for Tanglin!
