An Indian Fiesta!

indian-heritage-centre-open-house-singapore

One of the most festive time of the year is just around the corner! As one of the major cultural festivals in Singapore, Deepavali (also known as “Diwali” or the “Festival of Lights”) is a celebration to mark the triumph of good over evil. It’s when thousands of Hindu families in the city—and across the world—transform their homes into beacons of light, exchange gifts, share feasts and perform pooja (prayers) to deities such as Lakshmi, the goddess of fertility and prosperity.

This Deepavali, feel right at home as you celebrate the Festival of Lights with the crowd at Indian Heritage Centre. The Indian Heritage Centre’s Open House held this weekend brings you a host of craft activities, free snacks and tea, heritage trails and guided tours, cooking demos, fashion talks, live performances, exclusive money packets up for grabs, and many more programmes! Full programme line-up at indianheritage.org.sg. Continue the day by witnessing the glow of beautiful decorations to Serangoon Road and Race Course Road. Deepavali is going to be a lit affair this year!
