This play-based curriculum at GIIS will provide the school’s youngest learners an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive as they embark on a journey within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework.

In the PYP Early Years, play is the primary driver for inquiry. Students are offered opportunities to demonstrate their thinking, creativity and curiosity through multiple (play) materials and sensory, expressive and exploratory experiences.

The PYP Early Years programme not only prepares children for success in their early years but also equips them with essential skills and a love for learning that will serve them well beyond their time with the school.

    Play-based Learning

Play is not just a component of the PYP Early Years: it's the primary driver of inquiry. Highly adaptive and student-led, play provides children with agency, enabling them to explore concepts, delve into personal interests and investigate questions.

GIIS's learning community fosters supportive relationships, providing a nurturing environment where children feel safe to express themselves, collaborate and grow.

  • Exploration And Inquiry-Driven Learning

GIIS's young learners naturally explore through curiosity-driven questions that foster holistic development.

Six transdisciplinary themes provide a rich backdrop for inquiry, blending local and global contexts to ignite children's curiosity and engagement with the world around them. Children are encouraged to explore, imagine, create and take agency in their learning journey, leading to a deeper understanding and mastery of skills.

    Developing A Positive Identity

GIIS's PYP Early Years programme nurtures self-regulated learners, empowering children to take ownership of their learning, develop critical thinking skills and become confident, independent thinkers.

As children progress through the program, they develop a positive sense of identity, equipped with the skills and confidence to interact, reflect and contribute meaningfully to their own and others' learning and development.
