When it comes to ramen, it’s hard to find families that do not simply love slurping on them! This hands-on experience, organized by the renowned IPPUDO group, is a must-try for anyone who appreciates the art of ramen and gyoza making. It provides an opportunity for food enthusiasts of all ages to embark on a culinary adventure that’s both educational and delicious.
Child Kitchen, a part of the IPPUDO group, has been hosting similar cooking classes in various countries, including Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. It’s important to note that these workshops aren’t available every weekend. Typically, there are one or two sessions a month, and they tend to fill up quickly or are reserved for private events. If you want to ensure you don’t miss out on this opportunity, you can join their mailing list to receive notifications about upcoming sessions.
For Food Enthusiasts of All Ages
This experience is not limited to kids; it’s a perfect activity for adults who enjoy cooking and indulging in a tasty bowl of ramen. The underlying theme of these workshops is the power of food to bring people together and celebrate the art of creating authentic ramen and gyoza. It’s not just about mastering culinary skills; it’s an opportunity for families to bond over their shared love of Japanese cuisine.
Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:
Creating Ramen Dough: The journey begins with making your own ramen dough. Mixing lye with flour, participants knead the ingredients into a large, round dough. Yes, it can get a bit messy, but it’s a fun kind of mess, and the best part is that you don’t have to worry about cleaning up. Afterward, the dough is divided into portions, with each participant receiving their own piece to work on.
Gyoza Crafting: Next, you get to create the gyoza skin and fillings. A small portion of dough is divided into three parts, just enough to create three gyoza skins each. Using a template, you shape the skins and carefully fill them with the delicious chicken filling. Once done, the real chefs take over to steam and pan-fry the gyoza to perfection.
Ramen Noodle Making: The most exciting part of the workshop is making the ramen noodles themselves. Participants wrap the dough, lay out mats, and get ready to get their hands (and feet) dirty. That’s right; you’ll be using your feet to flatten the dough, stomping and jumping to ensure it’s flat enough to pass through the noodle maker machine. After a few rounds of “flattening,” you’ll have authentic ramen-sized noodles ready for cooking and filling with soup.
The Satisfying Conclusion
After approximately 1.5 hours of kneading, rolling, and stomping, it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Your own homemade ramen and gyoza are ready, and they’re even more delicious because you made them.
The IPPUDO Child Kitchen Ramen and Gyoza Making Workshop is an experience not to be missed. Whether you’re a parent looking for a fun and educational activity for your children, or an adult wanting to learn the art of ramen and gyoza making, this workshop provides a unique and memorable experience that celebrates the joy of Japanese cuisine. It’s an opportunity to bond with your family, create cherished memories, and enjoy a delicious meal that you’ve crafted with your own hands.
