  • LEGENDS WHISTLER CREEKSIDE:

    Legends is a condominium-style lodge with ski-in/ski-out access in Whistler Creekside, meters away from the Creekside Gondola. Though enjoying the Whistler Village will require a 5-minute bus ride, Creekside offers a wide selection of restaurants and shops of its own, while the atmosphere is even more family-friendly. And family-friendliness is a given at Legends. The rooms are super homeily decorated and even equipped with laundry facilities. Besides a heated outdoor pool, they have a specifically kid-friendly hot tub, a media room as well as a kids’ game room with toys, board games and two Nintendo Wii U stations.

  • NITA LAKE LODGE:

    Nita Lake Lodge is another boutique hotel worth mentioning among these hospitality giants. Oozing next-level Canadian lodge vibes, it is the only lakeside property in Whistler, and by lakeside, we mean literally on the edge of the shore of a scenic glacier-fed lake. It’s intimate and rustic, but the rooms are incredibly spacious and the bathrooms huge. It’s a couple of minutes’ walk to the Creekside Gondola. While almost all hotels on this list have a spa, Nita Lake Lodge’s is award-winning, organic, sustainable, and allows you to soothe your skiing sores, among other options, in two rooftop hot tubs with lake views before you retreat to your indoor fireplace-lit piece of lakeside heaven.

  • PAN PACIFIC WHISTLER VILLAGE CENTRE:

    With its spacious rooms and quieter location, Pan Pacific Village Centre is the more family-friendly of the two fantastic Pan Pacific properties in Whistler. It’s a bit farther from the action, but still just 5 minutes away from the Mountainside sister hotel lockers at the bottom of Whistler Mountain where you can keep your gear. They have a great heated outdoor salt water lap pool with heater whirlpools and amazing views, but what often steals the show is the rich, yet complimentary Continental European breakfast, something you can’t get at any other hotel in the village. Hot chocolate is not complimentary for kids at breakfast, though (which leaves only tea as a kid-friendly complimentary hot drink option), but it is in the afternoon, along with some sweet, well-deserved snacks.

  • SUMMIT LODGE BOUTIQUE HOTEL:

    Voted Canada’s best ski boutique hotel for the fifth year in a row, this quirky gem with a "special offer of free hughs" will make you feel 100% at (a uniquely and attentively decorated) home. While its outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna and outdoor fire pit are amazing, it’s the little things that make this place stand out. It’s located in Whistler’s food district, but make sure to try their own tapas which have been voted the best in town since 2005—and save some room for free candy from the lobby Candy Corner. Hugs and candy aren’t the only things that are free, and the range is interesting: from coffee and hot chocolate, snow shoes for kids and adults, to a pet fish to keep you company if you’re lonely! A stuffed toy on the bed and a rubber duck in the bath are bound to delight even the adults, plus some of their Easter eggs are super useful, like an in-room iPad!

Sundial is an all-suite ski-in/ski-out one right below the Whistler Gondola with incredibly strong hot tub game that makes up for its lack of a pool: they offer 2-bedroom suites with outdoor hot tubs on private balconies, and the hotel boasts the village’s only rooftop hot tub (you can imagine the views). These rooms will also keep your feet and hearts warm with gas fireplaces, heated bathroom floors, and a great selection of DVDs. Since Sundial is in the heart of the village, it’s smart to book a room away from the hustle and bustle. Pro tip: make your family ski trip doubly unforgettable by renting out their GoPro camera free of charge and take the advantage of their VR experience as well after you capture your real-life adventures in HD!

    Host of the 2010 Olympic off-slopes events, Westin Resort & Spa makes the best of everything around it: it's built with indigenous materials for a truly authentic feel, offers stunning views both from the rooms and the elevated outdoor pool, and is nestled steps away from the Whistler Gondola, ski school meeting point and the apres ski activities offered in the village both. They are known for very attentive staff and great mattresses. Ideally, go for the renovated rooms in the East Tower. Kids will love complimentary s'mores and hot chocolates in the afternoon, as well as Westin's huge play area hosting Westin's structured kids activities, or just providing a well-equipped area for safe haphazard play.
