The razzle-dazzle of Broadway is coming to Shenzhen! The Tony Award-winning musical “Chicago” will be gracing the stage at the Shenzhen Guangming Culture and Art Center Grand Theater from June 18-22, 2025. Which means this is a perfect opportunity for Hong Kongers to enjoy a Broadway show and make a memorable weekend in Shenzhen out of it.
“Chicago,” created by the legendary team of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse, is a dazzling spectacle of music, dance, and drama. Set in the decadent 1920s, the story follows Roxie Hart, a wannabe vaudevillian star who finds herself on murder row alongside vaudeville sensation Velma Kelly. Both are fighting for the spotlight and their freedom, aided by the smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn.
The show features iconic songs like “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” and “Razzle Dazzle,” which have become staples of musical theater. With its sharp satire, stunning choreography, and unforgettable music, “Chicago” promises to be a treat for both newcomers and long-time fans.
